FRAMING MY HISTORICAL DRAWINGS & PAINTINGS IN 1930s

Add comment January 17th, 2010 07:07pm Aaron

The objective was to build frames for my historical drawings and paintings that enhance, not destract. Another is to make the entire projects from beginning to end is my creation. In keeping with the subject I wanted to recycle materials old material in keeping with Green Living. As in construction and other forms of green projects you always have to use a little more energy and creative ability. So a little more sweat-equity was also needed. I realized my sense of re-use before recycling became the catch phrase could be traced back to the depression. as a child my grandparents and the family had a great affect on me. The talked about the collecting of things to take them to be recycled for the war effort and saving and re-use of things. My paternal grandfather was always making, repairing and collecting things. My maternal grandmother was really a saver of all types of little things such as screws, wire and string. Well that said we really miss the point when it comes to recycling and why. Its not because our resouces are low but because its so necessary stop waste period. Thats why I selected German siding or lap board as a framing material. As usual here in the good old USA we are demolishing our history for something that will last a fraction of the time. There were workers demolishing a home and two garages behind me that had Germansiding and true two by four (2″x4″) studs. This means pine and it was old growth timber. So I gathered my little $40.00 and paid each worker $10.00 to walk it 25 yards to my garage. I used the next three days pulling nails and saving them(cut nails). The house was built in the late 1930s. This is a beautiful wood that I desided not to stain because age has stained it to a golden color. Due to the method of sawing when these boards were milled the have their set of problems and due to age due to weather(sun, rain….etc.). There was cupping, warping, uneven width and thickness. There was also rot. Well at my DIY(do-it-yourself) site at http://diyamooreartandantiques.com I will give a detailed step by step view of the process. The DIY article will I hope be in place by the end of January 2010. The Studs were use to repair a elderly women garage since she couldn’t afford to pay some one to do it. I straiten nails to help with her cost. One old building went a long way toward helping others and to think it was going to the dump/landfill. The matts for the Drawings were created from old denim jeans and three sixteenth (3×16″) plyboard. As mentioned before you will find a detailed account of ths process the end of January 2010 at my website http://diyamooreartandantiques.com .

Thank You for your visit, Aaron

My Mother - Dorothy Mae McKinnon Moore McClain a artist. This photo was about 1960-62 after my Fathers death in 1959 at the age of 30 years. Leaving her with five(5) children to raise alone. She was an artist and housewife. This photo was taken and run in the Durham Morning Herald Sun News paper, of her in Downtown Durham,NC,USA during segregation and the civil rights struggle. She was a strong women.Hello I have had a crazy last 5 months and slowly planning my art showing task.
I hope to locate 1000 women who will join me as one of the subjects of this showing.
It is in the planning stage then comes gathering information, getting sponsors and then creating a website for the participants to use as a repository for their thoughts, photos and daily diary(a private place for us to edit what will be public and not). I will provide a family tree(history area). Please consider and we can get acquainted while working.

THE PLAN:

Join me as a friend and model for my new body of artwork for 2010 to 2013. This exhibition/lecture will be based on 1000 women the true gift of and to the existence of life. My objective with this showing is to combine all my talents into one coherent and cohesive production. I need interesting people to tell their story of life as they see it and themselves with-in it. Their place in culture, work, society local and worldwide, life history through family and friends. Basicly their biography and future as they intend it to be. This showing is meant to eventually bridge gaps between indivduals within themselves and within the human society and not a country (which is only another boundary put in place to prevent crossings in understanding). Join me in this endeavor and we may make a difference. You can contact me at the following email/chats : aaronm.mooreiii@yahoo.com or amooreartandantiques@hotmail.com and view more about me at : http://aaronmichaelmooreiii1951.spaces.live.co… . You can also find more about me by Google Search of my name and company name with qoutation marks included like this : “Aaron Michael Moore III” and “AMOORE ART AND ANTIQUES” .

My top goals are; meet as many good open people as possible, prepare the artwork and furniture pieces for my next exhibition in February2009, open a new studio/store front, complete my web sites and knowledge of ame, travel for exhibition outside my state and country, of course recover my ground loss due to illness both financial and physical. Education of course is something we should strive for as a live long goal not option. I become extremely frustrated if not challenging myself.

I would like to mention a few friends your web site and list it on my DIY. My life was influenced by so many women (4 sisters, 3 daughters). I have three young up and coming business women. They are reading RICH DAD POOR DAD.
Thanks again and have a peaceful and rewarding evening.
Sincerely,

MY EXPLANATION TO DOUBT OF MY INTENT

Add comment October 12th, 2008 02:08pm Aaron

Hi, since your friend request came with no introduction, I was wondering what you felt was our common ground? I’m guessing social networking, but that’s what it is: a guess. :)

Yes, its Social networking and I always enjoy meeting new people to increase my knowledge. There are so many things that come from good will interaction local or long distance. I believe through others we transend time, but, I tend to be a dreamer. I also believe its a little exciting to meet people that I have absolutly nothing in common with to gain new experiences through anothers eyes. When is another right or wrong ? Ninty per cent of life is a matter of opinion that truly has no right or wrong answer. If you feel the friend request is out of place I will understand and thanks for the chance to respond…….Aaron

Hello from Raleigh/Durham, its beautiful today and yesterday I went to my neice Brooke Carter Lucas wedding which was great. I usually avoid family events to much drama. Im always reminding my siblings of the fact you become adults but forget to grow your relationship as siblings.

Hello world!
